Astricon08, Phoenix - Overview

It has been a busy and interesting week at the Astricon08 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Apart from beeing bigger in terms of participants,there was a big interest from people that were new to Asterisk community, looking for ways to utilize asterisk in place of existing applications or design all new solutions.

We would also like to take this opportunity and thank all the Digium stuff that helped us, during our first Astricon. They proved once more that are trully the spirit behind Asterisk.

In Digital-OPSiS booth we had on show a diverse range of embedded boards running e-IPBX, and covering a large number of architectures (x86, powerpc, mips, xscale) and companies like Intel,Pika,AMCC,Genesi and Mikrotik.

Stelios Koroneos, founder and General Manager of Digital-OPSiS also gave a presentation tittled " Running Asterisk on Embedded boards : The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".
The presentation was a summury of all the techincal issues that an engineer might face when porting Asterisk to an embedded platform.
